Open ‘til Three, Writer/Director Ari Lieberman, Producer Carol Knorr, 16mm 20 min, 1997.
-The customers get more than they ordered in this late night diner.

The Displaced, Dir. by Stephanie Lucas, Co-Producers: Amnesty International / Upstairs Film, video, 20 min, 1997.
- An exploratory documentary concerning refugees and political asylum.

Kerouac Kafe, a film by Kathleen Haley & David M. Gil, 16mm, 12 min. 1995.
-Take a surrealistic adventure into a bizarre cafe where the waiters fight the 50’s chicks.

Number 13, Directed by Michael Toubassi, Produced by Melinda Ritter, 16mm, 7 min. 1997.
-Follow a day in the life of a local Paletero, as he makes his way through the barrio.

Live Music starting at 9pm with local music from
Al Perry & the Cattle, Creosote, StarCrunch and the Osgoods.
Admission is $5 dollars at the door.

MAY 11th the following short films will show at 8pm:
Gastrointestinal Blues, directed by Michael Hartigan, produced by Fluid Films, 16mm,  color, 13min. 1997.
- A comedy about a coffee-guzzling corporate suit who thinks he can just plop himself down in a hip cafe and be a great writer.  He’s in for a long night

Way Too Freaky, animation/dir: Ira Hirsh, music: Eric Mellen, video, color, 4 min. 1998.
- Original world premiere cartoon by two of Arizona’s freakiest.

Pyro, a film by Reginald Spangler & John Wintering, 16mm, 8 min. 1995.

Music from 9pm -12 with

May 18th the following short films will show at 8pm & 12am:
Invisible World, a film by Stacey Richter & Anna Keefer, 16mm, B&W, 40 min. 1994.
- A punk rock musical about a Pricilla Presley imitator starring the screen legend Lana Rebel.

Open 24 Hrs, a film by Kathleen Haley & David Gil, 16mm, B&W, 9 min. 1993.
-  You never forget your first time, but sometimes you wish you could.

The Last New York Innocent, a film by Kevin B. Robbins, 16mm, B&W, 12 min. 1998.
- A compelling film about a hardened New York detective who upon investigating the apartment of a deceased tenant finds a wild child fearful of the outside world.

- The ritual.

Greenwich Village: Art Exhibit, a film by Burt Halper,16mm, 15 min. 1959.
- Bruce Halper presents beatnik flair with this special home movie.

Porno Wrestler, a film by Mike Plante, Super 8, 17 min. 1998.
- Why are these people eating?

Weird LoveMakers and Clovenhoof.

June 1st the following short films will show at 8pm & 12am:
Footsie, a film by David Olsen & Eric Goldfarb, 16mm, 17min. 1997.
- A forlorn and misunderstood shoe fetish finds salvation in a most unusual way.

- An alternative news magazine about the old Pueblo.

Mommie Queerest, a film by Beverly Seckinger, video, 8 min. 1997.
-It’s Jessica Rose’s birthday, and the usual package arrives in the mail, wrapped with tender loving care and too much duct tape.

Our Minds Wander, directed by Matt Goldman, Cinematography by Jeff Baron, video, color, 21 min. 1996.
- A group of locals discover the past and present Tucson lifestyle through a unique look at the Fox theater.

Coagulation, directed by Michael Hartigan, 16mm,  color, 14min. 1993.
- A dark comedy about Sam, a guy whose bad day is made even worse by a nosebleed that won't quit.

The Harvester, a film by Larry Foster, 16mm,  color, 10min. 1975.
- A dark silent look at what happens when the tables are turned on a group of psychotic hunters..

June 29th the following short films will show at 8pm and 12am:
Gramma Does Dick,  a film by Ira Hirsh and Eric Mellen, video, color, 7 min. 1997.
- Direct from the Alternative film & video fest in Honolulu, HI and the San Francisco Fantasy and Horror Film Festival, a despicable video your mother would really hate.

Johnny Had Sex, a music video by Ira Hirsh and Eric Mellen,color, 3 min. 1997.
- Yet another music video your mother would hate.

A Day In The Life of Suzie Q, a film by Dan Murphy, video, 8 min., 1979.
- This short video will be screened with a  special live soundtrack performed by Al Perry.

Daddy’s Girl, a video by Al Perry & Dan Stuart, 4 min., 1993.
- A music video featuring two of Tucson’s legendary cow-punk rock ’n’ rollers.

Nerves, a film by Lewis Fowler, 16mm, B&W, 3 min. 1997.
-A young mans frantic attempt to find a date.

Itchy, directed by Mike Plante, acting & music by Bob Log III, 8 min.,  Super 8,  color, 1998.
-Fueled by pop tarts and beer, Itchy knows what he wants (a sweetheart) and how to get it (a trombone serenade).

Mummyesque, directed by Bebe McPhearson, 4 min., B&W, Super 8, 1958.
-Once thought lost, this rare B-movie print was rediscovered in a warehouse in Jersey City.  This special print of MUMMYESQUE contains both endings and stars Bebe of Bebe & Surge fame.

July 6th the following short films will show at 8pm and 12am:
Shades Of Captivity,  a film by Jason Urban, 16mm, color, 18 min., 1995.
- Three bank robbers must decide if they are going to kill their hostage or let him live.

Bedspring Kiss, a film by Michael Toubassi & Betty Chow, 16mm, color, 6 min. 1995.
- A couple searches for a bed, but alas if it were only that simple.  A price must be paid for comfort.  Features music from The Drakes, Sean “Sphere” Ball & Ashley Adams and Evan Andrews.

The Last New York Innocent, a film by Kevin B. Robbins, 16mm, B&W, 12 min. 1998.
- A compelling film about a hardened New York detective who upon investigating the apartment of a deceased tenant finds a wild child fearful of the outside world. Starring Ray Cardi and Paul Marlow.

Ballistic, a video by Robert Weiss, color, 8 min. 1996.

Relax & Video Comix, 2 videos by John Deloera & David Bayardo, 7 min. 1997.
- 2 episodes from the Tucson public access cult program.

July 20th the following short films will show at 8pm and 12am:
Big Bucks For Buddha,  a film by Jodi Lane, 16mm, color, 39 min., 1997.
- A teenage boy’s heart is broken when is best and furriest friend dies, vowing to himself to never love again.  Only, two other forces enter his world - a dog and a girl.

Sketches after Halle, a film by Cathy Lee Crane, 16mm, color and B&W, 13 min. 1997.
- An experimental autobiography re-tracing a 1991 trip to East Germany town of Halle.  In exploring the complexity of memory and the construction history, the director’s own images and text interweave with those of Bauhaus painter Lyonel Feininger to producer a hypnotic portrait of longing and absence.

Curt Brill, a video by Rosarie Salerno, 5 min, 1997.
- A documentary look at the local Tucson artist Curt Brill

Music from 9pm -12 with Subsonic.

July 27th the following short films will show at 8pm and 12am:
Retrogenesis,  a film by Jose Garcia, 16mm, color, 20 min., 1997.
- This dark comedy of Adam and Eve in the nuclear age combines raucous and irreverent  “Punch and Judy” puppet play with the story of the Biblical “Genesis”; mixing puppets with human actors.

Walking With The Dead, a film by John R. Killacky, 16mm , B&W, 5:30 min., 1996.
- a look at what makes a disease fatal.  Features direction by Darren Clark and cinematography by Anna Lee Keefer.

Big Trouble in Little Tucson, a film by Alvin Baker, 16mm, 6 min., color 1994.
- A comical parody where at the end of the fight, only one man is left standing and he even gets the girl.

Plan 10 From Outer Space,  a film by Shawn Marshall, 16mm, B&W, 10 min., 1984.
- A retro spoof that you have to see to believe.  Another film from the University of          Arizona’s Media Arts Department archives.

Amazing Grace, a video by Patrick Brawley, color, 9 min. 1998.
- An ex-cop finds salvation in the holy spirit, or does he?

August 17th the following short films will show at 8PM & 12 AM:
Anton, Mailman, a film by Dina Waxman, 16mm, 12 min., 1997.
- One day while delivering a parcel, mailman Anton finds himself drawn into the fantastic world of a disconnected woman. Features original music score by John Zorn and recently was screened at festivals in both New York City and Italy.

My Buddy Norris,  a film by Sean Sandefur, Super 8, 13 min., 1994.
- A dark twisted comedy about the art of making friends, which stipulates that “you can pick your nose, you can pick your friend’s nose, but you can’t pick your friends.”

Drunken Bees, a film by Marianne Dissard, video , 28 min. 1996.
- Shot one hot-as-hell summer in their Tucson, this documentary short is on Giant Sand ”America’s best obscure band.”

Gracieux /Electreniassance, 2 films by Tyson Krock, video, 19 min. 1997/98.
- The first film; grace transmogrified. The filmmaker questions where the heart lies and what constitutes the motivation to love.  The second film - a collage of site and sound spanning a 30 years canon of experimental technique.

Music from 9pm -12 with

September 14th the Brain Wash Film Festival will be in town from 9pm to 12am.  More info TBA.

September 21st the following short films will show at 8:15 PM only:
The Quiet Place, a film by Joshua Dragotta, 16mm, 7 min. 1995.
- This experimental film deals with one man’s struggle for psychological serenity.

Gracieux/Electreniassance, 2 films by Tyson Krock, video, 19 min. 1997/98.

White City, a film by Cathy Lee Crane, 16mm, B&W, 11min. 1997.
- surrounded by the chaotic sounds of memory, a woman journeys from the city to the desert to face her own morality.  Featuring the filmmaker and her friend Drew Lynch, to whom the film is dedicated.

Stripped Bare, a video by Kiki Kang-Lewis, 30 min. 1997.
- An autobiographical docudrama, is an experimental video designed to balance message and art.

Earl’s Easter Egg Hunt , a video by Ron Harvey & Evan Barthelamn, 5 min.1996.
- A regular day for a not so regular guy.

October 5th the following short films will show at 8:15PM only:
Masterpiece 3, directed by David Mazak, written by Franzie Weldgen, 16mm, color, 27 min. 1996.
- A drug-using-fantasy-filled short often described as” demented- after school special.”  Young Franzie (Franz Weldgen) awakens, on his birthday, to his father’s confession of the truth of his conception.  The enormity of his father’s dark secret sickens Franzie.  He wanders his hometown looking to escape the wicked truth. Instead, he happens upon two old high school buddies who take him, in his fragile state and show him the true meaning of love.

Videos Your Mother Would Hate..., a short video series by Ira Hirsh, with W. Byron Kelly and music from Eric Mellon & the Mellonheads, video/16mm , color, 22 min. 1997.
- Two new additions, The Ballad and 2 Urban Legends In One, are featured in this award winning collection of tales of the weird and twisted.

October 12th the following short films will show at 8:15PM only:
Luna: The Stafford Giant Tree Sit, produced and directed by James Ficklin, video, 20 min., 1997.
- This is the  story of the longest tree-sit in US History.  The Stafford Giant redwood tree, also called ”Luna,” was discovered by Earth First! during the Fall ’97 Headwaters campaign.  The Tree was blue-marked for cutting.  In order to save it from the chainsaw, a nonstop tree occupation began.  One extraordinary woman named Julia”Butterfly” Hill has remained in the tree all winter! (Local sources in town only known as Peanut & Mark say she’s still up there as of press time!) This documentary shows the inside view of one of the most inspiring acts of civil-disobedience ever.

The Brain Wash Film Festival, a series pilot by David Krzysik, film/video, 26 min. 1998.
- A portion of the renowned San Francisco festival returns with  a segment of their most popular films.

- Follow a day in the life of a local Paletero, as he makes his way through the barrio.

October 26th the following short films will show at 8:15 PM and 12:05 am:
Same Old Bunk, a film by Brian Halloran, 16mm, color, 17 min. 1998.
- From the members of the band Smoke and starring lead singer Benjamin, this short film was deemed too controversial for the Decatur Arts Festival and has been described as “a sick sad movie about a sick sad man,” features music from Smoke, the Rock *A* Teens, Greasetrap and Cat Power.

Broken Splices, a film by Joshua Dragotta, 16mm, color, 11 min. 1995.
- Short documentary about several east coast artist, featuring Joel Powell ”Display Decorator” and Darren Corona “Object Maker.”

Eyes Of the Ocean-Freeway, a video by Heidi Brozek, B&W, 8 min. 1998.
- A journey piece depicting the desolation of city life and the juxtaposition of destructive forces with the harmony of nature.  Features music by Noah Martin as recorded live at the Net Kafe in Enceintes, CA.

Long Story Short, a film by Keith Collea, 16mm B&W, 15 min. 1995.
- Tenth Street Danceworks brings a unique old fashioned dance movement to Hotel Congress.

Gloritone from Phoenix, AZ and Magstatic.
Admission is $4 at the door.

November 9th All Films Screen at 8:30PM:
The Slow Escape, A film by Sativa Peterson, 16mm, 20 min.
- One selection from the Big Miss Movieola Video Chainletter - a compilation of lady made films and videos.  The Slow Escape is a docudrama about a murder in Winslow, AZ.

- A story of necromancy, seduction, nudity and sacrifice.  A film for D&D connoisseurs.

- A collection of film and videos from Scottsdale Community College Film Department.

- One selection from the Big Miss Movieola Video Chainletter - a compilation of lady made films and videos.  The Slow Escape is a docudrama about a murder in Winslow, AZ.

Itchy, A film by Mike Plante.  8mm experimental, 1998.
- A day in the life of a loser trombone player on a short quest for love and honor.

Mummyesque, A film by Mike Plante.  8mm experimental, B&W, 1998.
- A deadly pursuit by a T.P. monster ending in a suspenseful flush.
