Rules and Regulations:
QUALIFICATION FOR ENTRIES: Any feature, short film or video, made for cinema, television or the Internet may be entered. Feature films must be longer than 60 minutes in length. Short films must be no more than 20 minutes in length. Music videos less than 10 minutes in length can be commissioned or non-commissioned (spec) works. All submitted works must be in English or have English subtitles. Only works completed after January 1, 2005 will be accepted.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: Works submitted for selection can be presented only on VHS (standard speed NTSC) or DVD (Region 1 only). Multiple submissions may be included on one tape/DVD, but a separate application and entry fee must accompany each submission.
ENTRY FEES AND DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT: For Short Film/Music Video submissions postmarked by May 1, 2007, early entry discount fees are $25 per entry or $20 with valid student ID. For submissions postmarked between May 2 and June 15, 2007, entry fees are $35 per entry or $30 with valid student ID. For Feature Film submissions postmarked by May 1, 2007, early entry discount fees are $35 per entry. For submissions postmarked between May 2 and June 15, 2007, entry fees are $45 per entry. Late discount fee are available but early entry in recommended. The entry fee is non-refundable and must be paid in U.S. dollars. Please make all checks and money orders payable to UPSTAIRS FILM.
SEND COMPLETED ENTRY FORM AND TAPES TO: TUCSON FILM & MUSIC FESTIVAL, 4477 Hollywood Boulevard, Suite #213, Los Angeles, CA 90027 USA. All submitted materials become the property of UPSTAIRS FILM and cannot be returned.
SELECTION: All submitted works will be judged by the Festival Committee. The Festival Committee reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any project. Works will be categorized at the sole discretion of the Festival Committee. Selected entrants will be informed of their status on or around July 13, 2007.
IF YOUR WORK IS SELECTED...
SCREENING FORMAT: Tucson Film & Music Festival screens all selected Shorts & Music Video entries on DVDs that are compiled by the festival. See below for screener requirements.
SCREENING REQUIREMENTS: If your work is selected to screen at the Tucson Film & Music Festival, you will be required to submit: for Features: 35mm or 16mm print, miniDV, DVcam or DVD; For Shorts: miniDV, DVcam or uncompressed Quicktime file of your film by the requested deadline. If the Festival Office does not receive the required video copy in the proper format on or before to requested deadline, the selected work may be withdrawn from the festival.
TRANSPORTATION AND INSURANCE: The submitter is responsible for the transport costs, insurance charges and customs fees incurred when shipping material to the Festival. The Festival is responsible for the costs incurred with the return of material to the filmmaker - however, due to budgetary limitations, the material will be shipped via SURFACE MAIL. Filmmakers requesting the return of materials via courier must incur the cost themselves. Although they will take every precaution, Upstairs Film/Tucson Film Festival cannot be held responsible for the loss or damage of entry and exhibition materials.
LEGAL: By submitting to Tucson Film & Music Festival you warrant, as sole and exclusive owner/s of all legal right and title thereto that you have absolute authority to submit the entry to the Tucson Film & Music Festival. You will indemnify and hold harmless Upstairs Film/Tucson Film & Music Festival, its judges, its sponsors and partners, individually and collectively, from and against all claims, demands, losses, damages, costs, liabilities and expenses including legal expenses arising out of or in connection with any and all claims, including third party claims, based on films/videos submitted to the Tucson Film & Music Festival. If your film/video/music video is selected, you expressly grant Upstairs Film/Tucson Film Festival the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display any and all publicity materials related to the film/video/ music video, including but not limited to stills, press releases, bios, and trailers, in whole or in part, without limitation to territory, and/or to incorporate said publicity materials in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed. ACCEPTANCE OF REGULATIONS: By signing the entry form for the Tucson Film & Music Festival, the participant accepts, without reservation, the terms of the present regulations as stated in this document. |
